Compilation of Reporting Tips from the 2016 CRMUG Summit

One of the sessions this year at the CRMUG Summit in Tampa, FL had some industry experts in Dynamics CRM reporting.  They brought along their best tips and tricks when working on Microsoft Dynamics CRM reports regardless of the tools you use. 

Beth’s Tips

  • Use templates for everything
    • Check the internet – there are tons of good sites to take from
    • Don’t recreate the wheel
    • Save all solutions
  • Test, test, and test some more

Ed’s Tips

  • Build insights to match the audience
    • Less is more
    • Power of drill-down
  • Don’t be afraid to try new things
    • Show data in new visualizations
    • Experiment
  • Keep learning

Sheila’s Tips

  • Understand the purpose behind a report before building it
  • Review best practices
  • Empower end users to customize wherever possible

Phyllis’s Tips

  • Always do a mock up report
  • Fully understand how entities relate to each other
  • Review the usage on existing reports regularly
