Dynamics GP 2013 Crashes Every Time You Open a Navigation List

Posted by Donna Krizik on August 12, 2013

In GP 2013, the area page navigation lists automatically load a Fact Box showing Business Analyzer information.

After an upgrade to GP 2013, one of our clients ran into an issue where GP 2013 crashed every time they tried to open a Navigation List. We discovered that this is caused because the Business Analyzer Fact Box is not loading properly and causes GP to crash every time a user opens any navigation list from within any area page.

To fix the problem, do the following (you will need to access the SQL Server):

  1. Change all entries in table SY07225 so the fact box is not visible
    1. Open SQL Management Studio
    2. Open a New Query window
    3. Run the following query on the DYNAMICS database
      1. Update SY07225 SET FactBoxVisible = 0
  1. Create a trigger on the SY07225 so the fact box would not be visible when users select a new navigation list
    1. Open SQL Management Studio
    2. Open a New Query window
    3. Run the following query on the DYNAMICS database to create the trigger
      1. USE DYNAMICS
      2. GO
      3. CREATE TRIGGER
      4. dbo.Update_SY07225_FactBoxVisible ON dbo.SY07225 AFTER INSERT
      5. AS
      6. Update SY07225 SET FactBoxVisible = 0
      7. GO

Microsoft is aware of the problem and should be fixing it in an upcoming release and you can remove the trigger after Microsoft delivers the correction.  Stay tuned -- we will let you know as soon as the issue is resolved!  For more troubleshooting tips, contact our support desk or call us at 847-394-8820 ext. 7.
