Dynamics GP Convergence 2015 Wrap Up
Posted by Donna Krizik on April 30, 2015
We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend Convergence 2015 this year and we got some great information to share about Dynamics GP 2013 R2 and 2015. Here is a recap of what we learned and shared during our Convergence 2015 Wrap Up webinar (video below).
Service Based Architecture (SBA)
If your company is developing applications or other products that need to talk to your Dynamics GP data; the Service Based Architecture (SBA) is using the HTTP RESTful protocol to do these types of integrations. Until now, GP would integrate data through the Integration Manager and eConnect. eConnect tends to be buggy and does not include all the GP business logic.
With the new SBA, application consultants or customers can build a Windows 8 app based off of GP data for your organization with just a few clicks. No need for high level technical expertise to build quality apps that can represent your GP data. Let’s not forget how this also saves you money on licensing since these apps don’t
’ require a GP license to access them.
There are some additional workflows in Dynamics GP 2015. Microsoft has added workflows to:
- Vendor Approval,
- General Ledger,
- AR and AP batch approvals,
- and others related to project accounting.
These workflows will help automate more of your business processes in Dynamics GP.
Copy Home Page & Content Feature
You can now copy home page content to other GP users. For example, if you are a power user and would like to add a new GP user, you can copy someone’s security and anything from their home page to another user; it is a true time saver.
With Smartlist Designer for Dynamics GP 2015 you can now create refreshable Excel reports. Once you create the Smartlist in Excel, you don’t need to push out the data from GP every time, it will refresh! Read our detailed article on the Smartlist Designer below.
Within the HR module of Dynamics GP, if you are running payroll and tracking employee insurance eligibility, you can produce the 1095-C forms within Dynamics GP. Some new screens have been added to that module as well. Upgrading to Dynamics GP R2 or Dynamics GP 2015 will give you this capability.
O365 & Delve
During the keynote presentations there was a lot of talk about “business as a whole” and how Microsoft has the solutions for you. They discussed Microsoft Office 365 and their latest addition Delve. Delve maps relationships between people, content and activity for Office 365 users. Microsoft wants to continue to make team collaboration simple, and Delve does just that.
