Dynamics GP SmartList - Help with Decimal Places
Posted by Donna Krizik on July 1, 2014
Why is it when you export data from a Dynamics GP SmartList to Excel, the columns are always populated with 5 decimal places? It used to work fine, but now it seems like the formatting is lost during the export.
Well, this feature was changed in Dynamics GP 2013 so that 5 decimal places were exported (exactly what is stored in the SQL tables behind the scenes in Dynamics GP). When you round to only 2 decimal places, you can lose quality of data.
So how do you fix this, while still using just 2 decimal places? You have two options:
1. Format the data once in Excel
2. Create an Excel template and use that when you are exporting data.
For step by step instructions on how to do this, visit the Microsoft reference article on "Smartlist and Navigation Lists export currency values with 5 decimals in Excel using Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013" or contact the Crestwood Dynamics GP support staff and we can help you too.
