What is SmartList Designer?
One of the great sessions we attended at Convergence this year was on SmartList Designer. SmartList Designer is a tool within Dynamics GP that allows users to create and modify SmartLists and Excel Reports. I always think of it as a powerful list building and filtering tool that allows you to do more with your SmartLists.
- View current data
- Create queries based on multiple tables found in Dynamics GP
- Add calculated fields
- Export the lists to Excel and even view them on your mobile device
- Quickly and easily create new lists based off existing ones or modify lists you already use
- Create a list from a SQL View
- Turn lists into refreshable Excel reports
How do I get SmartList Designer?
SmartList Designer comes with Dynamics GP 2013 R2 or later release. It is free of charge and installs with Dynamics GP. It replaces the popular add-on by e-One, SmartList Builder, which was an additional charge prior to Dynamics GP version 2010. However, it is not as robust as the SmartList Builder tool, but does a good job for users with a lighter need in this area.
To see if you have SmartList Designer, go to the SmartList area in Dynamics GP and click on the New button at the top of the screen. You will get a SmartList Designer window to open up.
