Entering Microsoft Dynamics GP Registration Keys

Entering your Microsoft Dynamics GP registration keys is an easy task to accomplish, as long as you know where to go and what to do.  Sometimes your Dynamics GP Registration Keys may need updating.  For example, because you have increased your number of licensed users.

Here’s how to update your Dynamics GP Registration Keys

After Crestwood places the order with Microsoft, and the order is processed, you will receive an email with a link to your Registration Keys.  You must be a registered user of Microsoft CustomerSource to access your Registration Keys.

To enter your new Registration Keys in Dynamics GP, go to Microsoft Dynamics GP Menu > Tools > Setup > System > Registration.

This window will appear, with your current Registration Keys (we’ve blocked out our information, but your keys will be completely visible):

When you open the link to your Registration Keys, you will view several things:

  • Your business name
  • Your Microsoft Account Number
  • Registration Keys numbered 1-5

These Keys correspond to the numbers in the screenshot above.  Additionally, make sure to verify your Site Name and your Account Number.

We also recommend that you take a screen shot of your current registration keys before making any changes to this screen.  If your new registration keys do not validate for some reason, you can then use the screen shot to reenter your prior registration keys.

To enter your registration keys, copy the new registration key next to key 1 from your link, then highlight the key in Dynamics GP 1 and paste.  You can also type the key into Dynamics GP directly, making sure to type it exactly as it appears in the Microsoft link.  Repeat this process for keys 2, 3, 4, and 5.  If the key at the link says <no key> just leave that field blank in Dynamics GP.

Once all registration keys have been entered, click the Validate button to verify that the keys are valid.  You will also see the modules you own and use:

A box may be checked even if you aren’t actively using a Module.  It is recommended that you do not unmark Modules because it causes problems in Dynamics GP.

Once you have validated your registration keys, simply click OK and the Registration window will close.

If you do not enter correct Registration Keys, you will receive the following error:

If you get this error, just go back to the registration keys in Microsoft CustomerSource and verify that the keys you have entered are correct.  Make any necessary corrections, and validate again.  If that doesn’t work, re-enter the old registration keys from your screen shot, and visit our support page for more help.

Enter Keys for Manufacturing Module

If you need to update your Manufacturing Module keys, you can also do that in Microsoft Dynamics GP.  Once logged in as the SA user, navigate to Registration window, as above, Microsoft Dynamics GP Menu > Tools > Setup > System > Registration.

You will see a button on this window called ‘Additional’.  Clicking on this button will provide a list of other products that use Registration Keys.  Choose the option Manufacturing Registration.  The following window opens for you to enter your Registration Keys into:

Verify your company name matches your company name in Microsoft CustomerSource, and then enter your Registration Keys exactly as shown in Microsoft CustomerSource.  Click OK to save the keys.
