Error with Multiple Upgrades in Dynamics CRM
Posted by Brandon Richards, Implementation Manager on November 14, 2016
If you’re trying to upgrade Microsoft Dynamics CRM from a very old version to a newer one, make note. I recently had to upgrade a client from Dynamics CRM 4.0 to 2013 SP1 and kept running into a problem. The Dynamics CRM 2013 SP1 installation kept failing!
Here’s the error message:
Error| Update Organization with Id=4dc1d026-46cc-xxxx-85f9-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx failed with Exception: System.Exception: Error.ActionFailed Microsoft.Crm.Tools.Admin.InstallDatabaseUpdatesAction ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Subquery returned more than 1 value. This is not permitted when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <= , >, >= or when the subquery is used as an expression.
I found out this error is caused by too many upgrades in less than 24 hours. What? Yes, that’s right – because I upgraded from Dynamics CRM 4.0 to 2011 to 2013 in less than 24 hours, the 2013 installed kept failing.
It’s simple. Just go advance the date on the server by one day and you can upgrade without an error.
