Get Going with Dynamics CRM – Industry Templates
Posted by Jen Bieker on February 27, 2015
If you use Dynamics CRM 2013 or 2015 and haven’t taken advantage of the industry templates, I suggest you do, as they are available to download, free of charge, from Microsoft Pinpoint (the Microsoft Dynamics app store).
What are Templates?
Dynamics CRM often requires customization and coding to make it fit your business, which can get expensive. Templates get you up and running with Dynamics CRM already configured and pre-set for a specific industry. These templates include industry specific data models, business processes, business rules, automated workflows, and even some sample data.
These templates will save you time and money and give you a jump ahead in tailoring your CRM system. For example, a non-profit business can quickly and easily set up processes to:
- Track donation requests
- Track thank you letters sent out
- Set up areas to track receipts or lists such as signup sheets
- Gather information about donors, sponsors, and volunteers
There are lots of other industry templates (27 templates total as of now) in industries such as; Financial Services, Public Sector, Manufacturing and Resources, Sales Methodology, Professional Services, and Retail.
Think of templates as a starting point, already built around best practices for your industry, developed by Microsoft experts in R&D, Support, Consulting, and other teams.
