How to Tell Which FRx Reports Have Recently Been Run

Are you upgrading to Management Reporter and trying to clean up your FRx report library?

We have clients that are looking at upgrading to MR 2012, and have come to us with the question, "Is there a utility or a way to determine which reports have been used in the last xx number of days?" The customer has a lot of report definitions and components but cannot tell us which ones are being used and therefore need to be converted.

The answer is there is an easy way to tell! Here are the steps:

  1. Make sure you are on the most recent version of FRx (FRx 6.7 Service Pack 12 – Help>About FRx should show 6.7.12008). If not, simply upgrade to the current version (only takes a few clicks).
  2. Click on the Report Catalog button. All reports show Date Modified, Modified By and Date Generated.

And, voila! There you have it. We scrolled all the way to the right, so you aren't seeing the report names or descriptions, but they are there.

One caveat, if you want to see building block information, click one of the tabs in the window (I.e., click Row Formats) and it will show the Date Modified. There is also a check mark to indicate if the building block is associated with a Report Catalog. However, it does not show the last date the building block was used in a report. So if you have swapped out a building block you won't be able to tell the last time it was used if it is not currently associated with a Report Catalog.

On any of the tabs you can click the Print List button which prints the same information you are seeing in the window.
