Microsoft Announces that Dynamics GP 2013 & 2015 will Support ACA Forms

As many of you Dynamics GP users may have heard, the US government mandated that the 1094-C and 1095-C forms be generated as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) starting January 2016 for all employees. To make your life easier, I’m pleased to inform you that Dynamics GP 2013 and 2015 will support these forms.

Dynamics GP 2013 year end and the upcoming Dynamics 2015 will include support for generation of these forms. According to the ACA and their employer mandate, the first form (1095-C) must be given at the start of January 2016 (for most companies), to “ACA-defined” full-time employees regardless if they are enrolled in the health plan provided by the employer or not. The second form (1094-C) is the transmittal form that goes to the IRS. This form is required for those companies that have 50 or more full-time employees. These ACA changes will be released for versions of Dynamics GP 2013 and above. Dynamics GP 2010 will only get the year end update changes.

Here’s the issue, the tracking of these ACA-defined employees needs to begin being tracked in January of 2015, which leaves Dynamics GP 2010 customers in trouble.  Here’s the other catch, this is tracked on a month-to-month basis. So, a 1095-C form must be given to any employee who was an “ACA-defined” full-time employee, and worked 130 hours or more, in any month of the previous year.

Whew! That’s a mouth full and a lot of sorting you’d have to do to locate these types of employees. But, there is a more manual work around for this for GP 2010 customers. There will be an edit window in the year-end edit W2 window where you can “edit” this information for each month of eligibility of health coverage.  Here is a view of what the “Edit 1095-C” windows will look like.

Take note that many of these changes are made in Human Resources. Human Resources is a requirement for the ACA changes. The nice thing is it’s free in Dynamics 2013 and beyond. So upgrade today and start using it!
