Microsoft Dynamics GP Best Practices: Logging Off Properly

Posted by Misty Galbreth, Support Analyst on January 27, 2016

Within Microsoft Dynamics GP, following simple best practice guidelines, like correctly logging out of the system, can help Dynamics GP run more smoothly and lessen the probability of future issues such as:

  1. Processes running in the background and never completing
  2. Batches not posting or only partially posting
  3. User IDs getting ‘stuck’ and taking up a license when in reality, no one is using it
  4. Other issues that may compromise data integrity

So, what is the right and wrong way of logging off?

When you are ready to exit the system, DO NOT simply select the red “X” located in the upper right hand corner of your screen.

Instead, go to the Microsoft Dynamics GP Menu, then select “Exit”

This will allow the system to save and correctly close out of running processes.

Taking the time to complete easy steps, like those highlighted above, can save you time and headache in your future and will ultimately allow for a more efficient, hassle-free, system.
