Next Release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 Announced (R2)

Posted by Jen Bieker on March 16, 2016

Microsoft has announced that the next update of Dynamics GP will be released and generally available on May 1, 2016.

What’s in the Next Release?

  1. Web Client Evolution:  the big news is the HTML 5 Client Interface; which eliminates the need for Silverlight to run the Dynamics GP Web Client.  In other words, you will be able to use Dynamics GP from any device, Android, OSX, and Linux, with current web browsers such as Safari, Chrome, and Firefox.

  2. All-in-One Document Viewers:  now users will be able to see all related inventory or sales documents for a transaction in the same window.  No more switching screens!  These new views will be found in the Customer Maintenance area, Sales Inquiry screens, Navigation, and Home pages.

  3. Business Intelligence Enhancements:  Microsoft is making Power BI reports available right on the homepage, giving us a quick snapshot of the data we care about most.

  4. SmartList Improvements:  a few customer requests will be included; such as: import SmartList definitions from SmartList Designer and create a new SmartList from a Favorite using Designer

  5. Other General Updates:

  • Project integration of purchase requisitions
  • Change workflow conditions
  • Attach documents for project expenses
  • Credit card payment types for check run processing
  • Https support
  • Multiple page scanning
  • Larger database field for “Distribution Reference”
