Quick Links and My Reports Disappearing from my Home Page

Posted by admin on September 29, 2015

We’ve run into a couple instances where Microsoft Dynamics GP users (a small number of users), after upgrading to GP 2013 R2 or GP 2015 R2, have had their Quick Links and My Reports disappear from their Home Page.  This user is unable to customize their Home Page, even though they have the rights to do so.  All they see is the To Do and Business Analyzer content.

The Problem:

For some reason, not enough records get created in the appropriate system table for that user.  If you run a select statement on the DYNAMICS.SY08100 table for the userid who is having problems, you’ll notice they are missing entries here.  A normal functioning user should have 6 entries in this table to allow them to see the different Home Page options.

The Fix:

Microsoft is aware of this problem and is working on determining the cause.

If you assign a new role, or reset it, it seems to work, but only for a short period – it reverts back to the problem again.  Plus the user will have to redo all their shortcuts and personalization options.

In the meantime, here’s a query to run which will allow you to copy the homepage settings from another user.

INSERT INTO [DYNAMICS].[dbo].[SY08100]
([USERID]
,[SectionID]
,[DICTID]
,[COLNUMBR]
,[SEQNUMBR]
,[Visible]
,[MetricSequence]
,[Selected]
,[Mode])

select

 'user1' as [USERID]
,[SectionID]
,[DICTID]
,[COLNUMBR]
,[SEQNUMBR]
,[Visible]
,[MetricSequence]
,[Selected]
,[Mode]
from sy08100 where userid = 'user2'
