Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 New Doc Attach Feature

It’s here! Released December 1, 2017, Dynamics GP 2018 has finally arrived. There are many great new features available and here are the ones I’m most excited about.

First, all the new Document Attach features. We’ve seen customers use this feature for years now, but in the new version, you can now attach to the General Ledger transaction from the Action Pane. I know all of the accountants busily doing allocations and complicated Excel spreadsheets are happy about saving a few clicks!

Here’s a preview:

Make sure you turn on the Document Attachment feature first. (Go to, Administration >> Setup >> Company >> Document Attachment Setup)

The document attach feature is available from the Action Pane for these windows:

  • General Ledger Entry
  • Receivables Transaction Entry

Enable this feature in the setup window above and you can view the documents attached in these inquiry windows:

  • Employee Inquiry
  • I-9 Form Inquiry
  • Fixed Assets Inquiry

You can now also see Notes in these inquiry windows:

  • Vendor Inquiry
  • Customer Inquiry
  • Project Inquiry
  • PA Project Inquiry

Now you can attach documents to transactions after they are posted through the Payables Edit Transactions window. (Purchasing >> Transactions >> Edit Transaction Information)

Drill-down on the Number field:

And then, you can attach your documents.

We are starting to upgrade clients to Dynamics GP 2018 in January, so sign up with Client Account Manager today to get these and more features.  If you’d like more information, or to discuss your business requirements, email us at sales@crestwood.com.
