The Dynamics GP Year-End Update – What’s the Same and What to Look Out For

Year-end update

It’s that time of year again: the air has grown crisp, the snow has started to fall, and Microsoft has released the year-end updates for Dynamics GP. No matter which version you’re currently running (Dynamics GP 2015, Dynamics GP 2016, or Dynamics GP 2018), there are three main items to note: some forms that stay the same, changes to Payables forms, and updated ACA reporting.

Forms That Stay the Same

There are no changes this year to several forms: W-2, W-4, and W-3; 1099-INT and 1099-MISC. These forms will be completed in the exact way that you’re used to.

Changes to Payables Forms

If you need to complete any of these three Payables forms, they will look a little different this year.

1099-DIV

Box 5 Section 199A dividends has been inserted into a previously blank space on the Payables 1099-DIV form. Existing box numbers were renumbered from Box 5-14 to 6-15. Box 5 was previously Investment Expenses.  Investment Expenses is now Box 6 (all subsequent boxes have been incremented as well).

1096

Payables 1096 has two new form option checkboxes.

1099-R

The payroll 1099-R (Pension) form has added additional Distribution Codes C and M for Box 7, now allowed to be entered in the “Edit 1099-R” window.  These codes and amounts associated with them will then be printed on the print 1099-R form.

Updates for ACA Reporting

These changes are only relevant to you if you print ACA forms right from Dynamics GP. There are some minor format changes to the ACA-1095-C form for name fields. The certification checkboxes have been moved on the ACA-1094-C form.
